    About Our Company

    BUILDING ELECTRO-TECHNOLOGY IN INDIA

Elmot was built from a passion for electro-technology. It was taken forward with the vision of self-reliance in design and technology. We are perpetually engaged in building new and innovative electrical machines of varied capacities and topologies.

Our core competence lies in the design, manufacture, testing & commissioning of all kinds of Rotating Electrical Machinery. This includes AC & DC motors, Generators, Rotary Frequency Converters, Permanent Magnet motors and the like. Our machines are designed for demanding applications requiring a tailormade product. We also manufacture silent diesel gensets in the 30KVA to 160KVA range. Powered by VECV , our gensets give best-in-class fuel economy and excellent performance for everything ranging from run-of-the-mill power backup needs to critical prime power applications.

We create for India in India. Every one of our products is based on designs we have created, and entirely developed and manufactured by us.

Our major clients are the Indian Navy and leading transnationals as well as PSUs. We are proud to have had a part in many prestigious projects of national importance. We have built frequency converters, alternators and motors for aircraft carriers, frigates and destroyers and advanced technology vehicles in the defence arena.

We are constantly engaged in new product development as we feel there is a huge unsatisfied need in India for specialised electrical equipment made by truly capable indigenous sources.

    OUR FOUNDERS

    Mr. C. V. K. Rao (1926-2014)

Mr. C. V. K. Rao was Elmot’s founder and first Managing Director. He has a PG Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) Bangalore. The initial part of his career was spent in England, where he worked with world leading makers of large alternators. After returning from England in 1954, he worked in India for large power generation companies and also tried his hand at academia. He was part of the faculty of the Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute (VJTI), Mumbai. It was under his stewardship that we made our initial strides from that tiny Mumbai workshop to the established and recognised player we are today. He was the first in India to develop brushless alternators without foreign collaboration. He has been a recognised authority in the area of DC machines and alternator design. Long considered one of the country’s best scientists and the leading authority in the field of Electrical Engineering, he was often sought out for advice and consultancy by government departments and organisations.
